I Am Oak ::

"I Am Oak's sad-hearted translucent music doesn't sound much like anything else... well worth keeping an eye on and an ear open for."
The Arts Desk

"If you told me there was a play to go along with this music I would not be in the least surprised."
Song By Toad

I Am Oak’s first full-length album, Ols Songd, was self-released in November 2008. As a coda to that particular artistic triumph, which itself was a masterclass in hushed acoustics and Will Oldham-esque eccentricity, the mishapen beauty of Sou Ka is now available in downloadable formats for the first time.

'Sou Ka' translated from Japanese means 'I see'... not to literally see something or someone, but to see beyond what you are actually presented with. Prophetic? Not really. Very simply I Am Oak offer something disarmingly honest amidst all the gloss, transience and mediocrity. On the surface, gently melodic, subversively simple and self-consciously idiosyncratic: messed-up vessels of strange beauty - warped and mishapen, but scratch the surface and these songs are all the more enchanting for their peculiarity.

Sou Ka was originally released as a limited CDR in 2008. I Am Oak's new album On Claws can be downloaded here.
